Maria Luisa "Marilu" Tavagna

Ms. Tavagna grew up in Vicenza, Italy, surrounded by inspiring mountains and magnificent Renaissance Villas.



Following graduation, Marilu was an Urban Planner in Verona, but her interest in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) brought her to develop a new geodatabase system at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland.



Recently she moved to Austin with her husband, Nicola, who teaches geology at The University of Texas, and their two daughters.



At Altura, Marilu brings her vast experience in urban planning and the development of GIS databases to our team!

In their spare time, Marilu and Nicola enjoy exploring cave systems, and now they are introducing their two little girls to their passion for caving.
